Education & Training

For more than three decades, Tammy Potter has followed a path shaped by curiosity, creativity, and a genuine love for people. She began her professional journey in graphic design and architectural drafting, where she discovered the quiet satisfaction of precision and the joy of bringing ideas to life. That early work sparked a deeper appreciation for thoughtful design and the stories behind every project. She later stepped into the role of Creative Director for a full-service international advertising agency, where she guided brand strategy and creative campaigns for clients across a wide range of industries. Along the way, she came to believe that the most meaningful brands, businesses, and communities are built with intention, and always begin with people.

Following a successful career, Tammy retired believing her next chapter would be one of quiet service and family. But when Hurricane Helene forever changed Western North Carolina, she felt called to return to the workforce, not simply to build business, but to help rebuild community. That calling led her to Best Buy Metals, where, as Business Development Manager, she now builds strategic partnerships throughout Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, connecting businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders in ways that strengthen the region she loves.

Tammy is known for her ability to bring people together around a shared purpose, guided by her belief that meaningful relationships are at the heart of lasting change. Her commitment to community extends far beyond her professional role, as she actively serves with regional business organizations and nonprofit initiatives dedicated to strengthening the places she calls home.

As a member of the SERVE Equity Fund Board, Tammy is honored to support efforts that expand opportunity, champion inclusion, and help build a future where everyone has the chance to contribute, belong, and thrive. She believes deeply that strong communities are created when every individual is seen, valued, and given the opportunity to succeed.
